About Me
I’m an emerging speculative fiction author with a love for worldbuilding, futuristic “what ifs,” and emotionally grounded storytelling. My debut novel, for which I'm seeking representation, is The Awakenings--a post-apocalyptic, mother-daughter saga set between the last two countries on Earth. I’m currently working on my second book, We Bought A Mountain, a dystopian AI apocalypse in which a young woman tries to protect her niece by seeking shelter in Puerto Rico, in a hidden mountain refuge built by her estranged father… who now lives on the Moon. Both novels are the culmination of a lifelong journey through science, journalism, design, and motherhood. Before turning to fiction, I earned a Ph.D. in Genetics from Harvard University and worked as a science and healthcare reporter for publications like The Wall Street Journal, The Los Angeles Times, New Scientist Magazine, and served on the editorial board of The Boston Globe. I’ve also co-owned a business that organized high-end conferences for biotech CEOs, and currently run Herringbone & Brass, a full-service interior design firm in the Boston area. I was born and raised in Puerto Rico, and I’m proudly half Colombian. I live outside Boston with my husband and children (two out of the house adulting, three at home), and our sweet dog, Lulu. We raised our kids trilingual — Spanish and German at home — and embrace our family’s many cultural roots. I’m a proud LGBTQ+ mom 🌈 and a believer in multi-passionate paths. A writer friend once called me a hummingbird, always flitting from one creative pursuit to another. That metaphor stuck — and it now lives in both my personal brand and my novel, where a hummingbird locket is passed down from grandmother to mother to daughter, across generations. I’m so glad you’re here.
